Abstract

Endogeneous GA-ABA like substance content, enzyme activities and protein patterns in the dormant and non-dormant bulblets regenerated in vitro were analyzed to understand the dormant physiology of Lilium hansonii. Endogeneous GA-like substance in non-dormant bulblets had more increased than those in dormant bulblets. But, there was no difference in endogeneous ABA-like substance between the two bulblets. Also, activities of peroxidase, fumarase and isocitrate dehydrogenase in non-dormant bulblets were higher than those in dormant bulblets, but metabolic activities were high in dormant bulblets as well as in non-dormant bulblets. Protein contents were not so much in non-dormant bulblets as in dormant bulblets. Protein patterns separated by SDS-PAGE showed quantitative difference in molecular weight of 66 kDa between the two bulblets. The results demonstrate the new physiological understanding about dormancy phenomena.
